Dayton Hamvention 2006

I will be at the Dayton Hamvention™ (Ham Radio convention) in Dayton, Ohio, from 18th-21st May 2006. We should have internet access there and, assuming that we do, this page will be regularly updated with photographs throughout the weekend.

I am also giving a presentation during the contest forum (that's in Room 1 of the Hara Arena from 2:30pm on Saturday 20th), entitled 'Who says there's no young contesters? Introducing the WWYC'. You may download the presentation, after the event, below.

You can download a copy of the presentation (Powerpoint format, approx. 10MB).

All of my flights for this year have been carbon-offset with Climate Care.

Diary

18 May 2006

Arrived in Detroit yesterday, and spent the night in Michigan. This morning, we had a leisurely drive south to Troy, where we are staying during the convention, where we arrived at around noon. As the hotel room wasn't ready, we went to the US Air Force museum down the road, which was very interesting. It was also quite funny that half of the cars in the carpark there seemed to have ham radio callsign licence plates and/or whip antennas on top of them! A few photos are below.

Our first day at the convention.

20 May 2006

The main day at the convention, which I mainly spent in the various fora. It was a lovely warm day today outside, though. In the evening, we went to the Contest Dinner (which was a lot shorter than the DX Dinner on Friday) and spent some time in the various suites afterwards. Sadly, along with many of the other youngsters there, I only got a score of 1 in the CW pileup competition, but nevermind!
